An aside is anecdotal and may not be very long.  Generally it is longer than a status, but shorter than a regular post.

Perhaps it’s a little quick information about something like an event or product release date.  Or, perhaps it’s a quick run down of a funny discussion you had recently.

In any case, it should be over pretty quick and your reader smiles and moves on.
